Who We Are

Established in 2009, rooted in Nawada

Triveni College of Education was established in 2009 under the Lakshya Educational & Welfare Trust, with its campus at Kunti Nagar, Nawada. The college is recognised by the Eastern Regional Committee (ERC) of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Government of India, and is affiliated to Magadh University, Bodh Gaya.

The college was founded in response to a clear gap: Bihar’s government and private schools were reporting a persistent shortage of trained teaching staff, even as demand for qualified educators grew across the eastern states. Rather than sending aspiring teachers elsewhere to train, Triveni brought a structured, NCTE-aligned B.Ed. programme directly to Nawada.

As national policy continues to raise the bar on teacher preparation, the college has continued to invest in a curriculum that keeps pace — one built around child-centred, activity- and play-based approaches, and increasingly shaped by the direction set out in NEP 2020.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

A Triveni — a confluence of three streams

Just as the Triveni Sangam is where three sacred rivers meet, our teacher-training programme is built where three streams of preparation converge in every student-teacher we graduate.

Stream One

Gyaan · Knowledge

A rigorous grounding in pedagogy, child psychology, curriculum design and subject mastery, aligned with NCTE norms and NEP 2020 thinking.

Stream Two

Sanskar · Values

Discipline, ethics and a sense of responsibility toward students and community — the character that separates a teacher from an instructor.

Stream Three

Abhyaas · Practice

Structured teaching practice, school internships and classroom exposure so trainees are ready for the front of a classroom, not just the theory of one.

History & The Trust

Lakshya Educational & Welfare Trust

The Trust that founded and continues to manage Triveni College of Education.

Why the college was founded

The scarcity of trained teachers in Bihar was visible in the vacancies published by the state government year after year. Neighbouring states faced a similar shortfall, and neither the government nor private sector had enough capacity to train teachers at scale. The Lakshya Educational & Welfare Trust set up Triveni College of Education to help close that gap for the Nawada region and beyond.

What the Trust does

The Lakshya Educational & Welfare Trust is the sponsoring and managing body of the college — responsible for its governance, infrastructure investment, and its long-term commitment to affordable, quality teacher education in the region. full governing body details on the Leadership page
